Two women killed in crash

Cape Town - Two women were killed in an accident in Cape Town on Saturday, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said the car they were travelling in collided with a pole. When they got out of the car, a bakkie hit them.

A third young person, believed to be the daughter of one of the deceased women, was unhurt but severely traumatised.

The driver of the bakkie sustained a small cut to his head, he refused to go to hospital after paramedics attended to him.

The incident occurred on Buitengracht Street at the intersection with Hans Strydom Drive.

In a separate incident, a man was injured in a three car pile up, in Boyes Drive, Lakeside.

Jackson said he was treated for possible back and neck injuries and had to be carefully removed from his vehicle using specialised stabilising equipment.

He was in a stable condition.
