Bloemfontein - University of the Free State rector Jonathan Jansen will send a complaint to the SA Human Rights Commission about a newspaper advertisement looking for “non-affirmative action” female students in need of accommodation.

The ad is for private accommodation near the university, The Times reported.

Jansen said an investigation revealed that the accommodation was open to white students but not their black counterparts.

An attempt by the newspaper to contact the person behind the ad was unsuccessful.

Only 20% of students lived at UFS’s residences.
