Union congratulates matrics
Johannesburg - The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) congratulated the "sons and daughters of the working-class" who passed matric on Thursday.
"We also congratulate the whole class of 2009 for the efforts and energy they have put into their schooling year and examinations," Numsa said in a statement.
It wished people going into further studies well and encouraged those who failed to rewrite their exams.
It would help 78 Numsa family members with their further studies through the Mbuyiselo Ngwenda Bursary Fund.
Numsa reiterated concerns from other quarters about the drop in the pass rate, saying working-class and poor communities suffered from unequal distribution of resources.
