2012-04-17 10:01

Cape Town - The University of Stellenbosch has had its third bomb threat in about six weeks – disturbing classes and causing widespread disruption.

Die Burger reported that the JC Smuts building in Merriman Street had to be evacuated on Monday afternoon after a bomb threat was received.

Staff and students were immediately evacuated.

Police arrived soon afterwards and the area was declared to be safe at about 15:25.

It was not clear if police found anything in their search of the premises.

A university spokesperson said bomb threats were seen in a very serious light.

Anyone with more information was asked to contact security on campus or call 021 8082330.

The university also received two bomb threats on 1 March this year, causing evacuations and disruption of classes.

Who said a student had anything to do with it? Perhaps, considering you seem to know exactly what's going on, you should give them a call on the provided number?

Could it be some idiot student trying to avoid writing their tests?

That is what used to happen in the '80's. Guys would call in the day their girlfriends had difficult exams.

Sorry state of a fairs .When some hooligans can't get their way of living and thinking forced onto what used to be a world class university , they resort to all kinds of dirty things .Hope they find the culprits and string them up.Had we had an more effective law system in place I think this type of activity would also be much less.
