Vavi stops tweeting

2012-05-04 16:06
Cape Town - Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi has announced he will be leaving the social networking site Twitter.

Vavi, who joined Twitter on 22 January 2012 and uses the name @Zwelinzima1, is seen as one of the more prolific South Africans on Twitter.  He recently revealed his salary after he came under fire from users on the network.

He announced his retreat from the network with the following tweets:

@Zwelinzima1: Tweets exposes one to the most decent fellows of all races & classes but it also expose one to the worse SA can offer. Good bye for now.

@Zwelinzima1: It's been great experience to tweet & share my opinions & why we think and behave in certain patterns. I have decided to discontinue.

He did however tweet twice after announcement, both times with stats on income inequality in South Africa.
