Veteran Journalist dies in PE
Johannesburg - Veteran journalist Veronica van der Westhuizen, died of pancreatic cancer on New Year's Day in St George's Hospital in Port Elizabeth, SABC radio news reports.
Van Der Westhuizen, 47, covered the pre-1994 election violence on Gauteng's East Rand and the former Truth and Reconciliation Commission for SABC television.
She also worked for e-tv and at the time of her death was the Eastern Cape bureau chief of the daily Afrikaans tabloid, Die Son.
Van Der Westhuizen is survived by her two children, her mother and three brothers.
