W Cape pair held over firearms

Johannesburg - Two men were arrested after they were found in possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition in Steenberg, Cape Town, Western Cape police said on Thursday.

Spokesperson Frederick van Wyk said police had been patrolling in Steenberg on Wednesday night when they noticed two men behaving suspiciously and decided to search them.

"One was found to be in possession of an illegal firearm, a 9mm pistol, and eight rounds were found in the magazine.

"The second man was found with a blue pouch with another eight 9mm rounds in his possession.

The men, aged 21 and 24, will be charged with the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition and will appear in court soon.

    These cops did a good job. by removing this illegal firearm they probably saved at least one life
