Wanted Soweto man arrested

2012-08-06 16:41
Johannesburg - A man was arrested in Soweto on Monday in connection with a hijacking, Gauteng police said.

Patrolling police, acting on a tip off, took him into custody at a house in Zola 3, Warrant Officer Kay Makhubele said.

Makhubele said the crime was committed in April, when a man was hijacked at gunpoint. The hijacker and two accomplices took the car.

The two were arrested shortly afterwards, but the third man had been eluding police.

Makhubele said the man was on bail for house breaking and theft.

He would appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court soon, facing charges of hijacking and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
