Water shortage hits Bloemfontein

2011-12-08 18:20

Bloemfontein - Some Bloemfontein residents were short of water on Thursday after a pipe supplying one of its main water reservoirs burst, said the Mangaung metro.

Spokesperson Qondile Khedama said the pipe bringing water to the Brandkop reservoir was being repaired.

"This disruption may affect various areas in the city as water was distributed or relayed from here [Brandkop] to other parts of the city."

Khedama said water was still available on Thursday afternoon, but residents were asked to use it sparingly.

The pipeline would be shut down completely from 18:00 on Thursday until 18:00 on Friday.
