Johannesburg - Water supply has been restored to Constantia Kloof, Johannesburg Water said on Friday.

"We were able to successfully restore full water supply to the residents of Constantia Kloof and surrounding areas last night at 19:00 by making use of a generator," spokesperson Millicent Kabwe said in a statement.

The water shortages followed power outages in parts of Johannesburg this week.

Kabwe said there were still problems with water supply in the Northcliff area.

"We are... still experiencing challenges with pumping the Northcliff water tower as the water tower that supplies water to this part of the city is very high and thus requires a big generator which we are in the process of sourcing," she said.

"Johannesburg Water is doing its level best to restore water supply as soon as possible."

Water tankers that had been deployed to Constantia Kloof were moved to parts of Northcliff.
