Namakgale - Police in the Limpopo lowveld seized hundreds of litres of skokiaan (homebrew) after spotting a tractor weaving across the road outside Phalaborwa.
Moatshe Ngoepe said police were arresting a 50-year-old woman for being in possession of a large quantity of dagga on Wednesday when they spotted an unroadworthy tractor being driven by someone who was clearly under the influence.
They apprehended the man, 53, and found a bottle of the highly toxic brew, known as skokiaan, in his possession.
After the man pointed out where he'd bought the concoction, police found a hundred litres of the drink in an underground shebeen.
Ngoepe said the 73-year-old shebeen owner was arrested for being in possession of and trading in an illegal substance.
The tractor driver was arrested for being in possession of an illegal substance, driving under the influence, and driving an unroadworthy vehicle.
