West Rand man held for teen's rape

2012-08-13 15:39
Johannesburg - A man has been arrested for allegedly raping a teenager in Rietvallei, Kagiso, West Rand police said on Monday.

The 16-year-old girl was on her way to school on Friday 3 August, when the 35-year-old man called her to his home and asked her to buy him pre-paid electricity vouchers, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said.

"While he was checking the money and the receipt, he gave her a mixture to drink that made her dizzy and caused her to collapse."

She woke up naked in a house the next day with her hands tied behind her back. He tried to give her the drink again, but she refused.

"The suspect continued and raped the complainant. He threatened to kill her if she told anyone."

He let her go, and she went to the police a week later, on Saturday 11 August.

He was arrested and would appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrate's Court soon on a charge of rape.
