Johannesburg - A man has been arrested after he allegedly torched part of his girlfriend's home in Kagiso on the West Rand, police said on Wednesday.
The man, 48, accused the woman of having an affair when the argument ensued on Tuesday. She told him to leave, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said.
"The suspect instead sneaked into the toilet and locked himself in with the complainant not aware," said Sibiya.
He said the man later came out and set the woman's room on fire and fled. While outside the house, she saw the smoke coming from her room and called firefighters and the police.
The man fled, but he was later arrested.
Sibiya said the damage amounted to about R5 000.
The man would appear in the Kagiso Magistrate's Court soon on a charge of arson.
