Western Cape cyclist killed

Cape Town - A cyclist was killed when he was struck by a car on the R102 near Firgrove, in Cape Town, on Thursday, said paramedics.

The man, 40, died at the scene, said ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser.

Details surrounding the accident were unclear.

"Paramedics could see that the collision was severe as the Opel Corsa had sustained substantial damage," said Visser.

The driver of the car was treated for shock.

    Bikers on the road..i still don't agree with it. Car's think bike, but more importantly - bikes, think car! Too often is the latter ignored!

    I AM GENERALISING, BUT CYCLISTS SHOW NO RESPECT FOR OTHER ROAD USERS, DOUBLING AND EVEN TRIPPLING UP. THEIR ATTITUDE IS THAT THE ROADS BELONG TO THEM! SAD NEWS THOUGH.
