Durban - Howick magistrate's court on Thursday granted bail to a man believed to have been involved in the death of an alleged witch in the Mpophomeni area in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands.
Superintendent Joshua Gwala of police said: "Philani Sokhela, 24, was granted bail of R10 000 and is expected to make his next appearance on October 27."
He said Bheki Sibiya - believed to be a traditional healer - was attacked by members of the community who accused him of practising witchcraft and then stoned and assaulted him to death.
Gwala said on Wednesday the Midlands Area Project Team, led by superintendent Phillip Mlambo, made a breakthrough and arrested Sokhela.
He said investigations would continue and more arrests were expected soon.
