Woman, 80, raped and murdered in KZN

Pietermaritzburg - An 80-year-old woman has been raped and murdered at her home in Vulisaka in the Vulindlela area near Pietermaritzburg.

Tokolena Mnguni, who lived with her grandson, was alone at home when she was attacked.

Police spokesperson Musa Ntombela said Mnguni’s injuries indicated that she had been raped.

“It was also discovered that she was strangled as she had marks around the neck. The motive for the killing is unknown at this moment,” said Ntombela.

Police are making an urgent appeal to anyone that can assist with information to contact Captain Musa Ntombela at 082 4172753 or 033 3989730. Witnesses who want to remain anonymous may contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
