Smoke detectors are inexpensive and should be made compulsory for every institutional type facility including Old Age Homes and hostels. So too should residential sprinklers be brought into the equation in these types of places, South Africa is experiencing far too many such incidents!

There is nothing to say there were not any.... Remember from the time an alarm goes off it still takes time to get to the area concerned and evacuate the residents. They were successful in getting 32 out.

Nobody was injured? Death is a pretty significant injury if you ask me.
