Woman airlifted after crash

Johannesburg - A woman was airlifted to hospital after being seriously injured in an accident in Ruimsig on Saturday, Gauteng paramedics said.

"Shortly after midnight paramedics responded to the scene and found two vehicles a few metres apart from each other.

"Paramedics found a Volvo standing on the pavement with a lady still trapped in the passenger's seat," said ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak.

"A man, believed to be her husband, was found behind the steering wheel."

The woman was seriously injured and needed to be airlifted to hospital. The Volvo travelling on Hendrik Potgeiter Street when the accident occurred.

Near the overturned car were two people standing next to a Toyota Yaris. The driver of the Yaris has been taken for questioning by Johannesburg Metro police.
