2012-03-31 14:40

Johannesburg - A woman drowned in a swimming pool at a house in Faerie Glen, Pretoria, on Saturday morning, paramedics said.

It appeared that the 47-year-old domestic worker fell into the water while cleaning around the pool, said Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks said.

"Residents discovered her floating in the water and pulled her from the pool before starting CPR."

The woman died before paramedics arrived, Wicks said.

more should be done to protect our mothers and sisters who work as domestic workers. The owner of the proper should have taught her how to swim this is very sad indeed. *park and blue pools*

Lara u sound very racist. Who said the employer was white? Maybe ur tiny mind tells u that only white people own pools.

Can’t see a problem with Lara’s comment. I also try to convince folks not to hire outside help. Letting strangers intro you inner sanctum is literally risking you and your families lives especially if you are white. No need for that if you ask me but yes, most folks I know are too lazy to “do their own work”.

I wonder why News 24 readers are so Racist....Lara who mentioned skin color dear? Anyway black too have swimming pools in their properties...why can't u accept that even if u are blue,grey...as long as there is a swimming pool in yo property make sure u teach the domestic workes safety basics.....

Then Koos u r also ignorant.

      Koos - 2012-04-02 11:07

@Simthandile Mpondo: I might be ignorant (not sure about what thought) but at least I don’t pass the buck and blame others for my shortcomings.

I think it's actually very sad that she died this way but I don't think it's anyone's fault. Blaming people will not undo her death. I'm sure her employer was horrified as well.

agreed, who knows? maybe she had a heart or epilliptic attack
