Woman found dead in boot

2009-10-01 15:16
Johannesburg - A 24-year-old woman was found dead in the boot of her car, outside her boyfriend's house in Soweto on Thursday morning, Gauteng police said.

Inspector Kay Makhuvele said the woman was reported missing from her home in Protea Glen on Wednesday evening.

"She was missing for the entire day. Her BMW 3 Series vehicle was also nowhere to be found."

Makhuvele said her boyfriend who also lives in Protea Glen, went to sleep late on Wednesday night, and when he woke up he allegedly found the woman's car in his yard.

"He alleges that he woke in the morning and found her car parked in his car port. Before going inside to call the police, he said he didn't know what made him open the boot. That's when he found her body and called the ambulance."

Paramedics arrived and declared the woman dead. She had no visible wounds on her body and the cause of death was believed to be caused by suffocation. A post-mortem would be carried out.

"She was squashed into the boot, it did not hold enough space for her."

No arrests have been made and police were investigating a case of murder, Makhuvele said.
