Woman held for arson

Johannesburg - A pregnant 25-year-old woman has been arrested for burning her boyfriend’s shack in Ramatlabama near Mahikeng, North West police said on Sunday.

Sergeant Kelebogile Moiloa said it was alleged she suspected that her boyfriend was cheating on her and paid him an unexpected visit.

"The pregnant woman came all the way from Taung to Mahikeng to find a 20-year-old woman opening the door for her."

An argument ensued between the two women and the 25-year-old poured paraffin all over the shack and set it alight."

The 20-year-old called the police. The 25-year-old was arrested for arson. She was expected to appear in the Mahikeng Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Moiloa said the estimated value of the shack and goods destroyed amounts to R66 000.
