Johannesburg - A woman has been arrested in Kempton Park
for trying to open a bank account using a man's identity book, police said on
Thursday.
The 22-year-old woman gave the man's identity document to
the bank teller who was helping her on Wednesday, said police spokesperson
Jethro Mtshali.
"The bank manager was called by the teller for
clarification and upon questioning, the woman confessed that she was sent by a
Nigerian national to commit fraud," he said.
The bank alerted the police, who quickly arrived and
arrested the woman.
She would appear soon in the Kempton Park Magistrate's
Court on fraud-related charges.
