Johannesburg - Eleven men and two women were arrested for speeding on the N1 south, the Johannesburg metro police department said on Sunday.

"They were arrested on Saturday night and were caught driving over the 120km/h speed limit," spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said.

One of the women was caught going at 185km/h in a Mini Cooper.

"Those arrested were all young people," Minnaar said.

They were expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Monday.

I mean really,, why name the car?? The woman was driving at 185km/h. She couldve been in a ox wagon for all I care. 185 is 185.

      kelvyn.davidson.1 - 2012-08-12 17:58

an Ox wagon would not do 185 but a Mini Cooper does ;-)

Excellent. Our roads are a bloody death trap cause of these hooligans. Next step should be unmarked traffic vehicles arresting people for dangerous overtaking and reckless driving.

  • stanton.clarke - 2012-08-12 15:32

Send them to jail! Their actions could reslt in the loss of life of other innocent drivers.

      wilma.kellerman.90 - 2012-08-12 16:25

Only if the same applies to the Blue Light gang.

  • tony.kirby1 - 2012-08-12 16:45

Damit my old Mini could only do 55 MPH on a downhill. That was only a 1000cc engine back in 1972

  • comurray - 2012-08-12 17:07

Don't these drivers understand that the speed limit is for every body including the "blue light brigade".

  • bamakhani - 2012-08-12 17:13

They didnt pay bribes, no wonder

  • John - 2012-08-12 18:38

How many dangerous reckless negligent drunk and drugged drivers and blue light bandits did you catch Minnaar? Always the sneak in the bush. Do something to PROTECT and SERVE. Speed does not kill. Unaware recklessness and negligence does!

      Jason - 2012-08-12 19:22

Speed is often negligence in the making.

Thats why they say women belong in the kitchen and bedroom. Not on the road speeding, or wearing police uniform. Give her a life sentence please!

      SunblushStarfish - 2012-08-12 21:03

      Walter, shut your trap please.

      Randomhero6661 - 2012-08-13 12:01

  • Johan De Beer - 2012-08-12 21:50

Only 13 people caught exceeding 120km/h? Seems quite ineffective to me.

  • Khetha Hlophe - 2012-08-12 22:13

Almost all drivers of mini copper r restless irrespective of gender. I don't want to quote names or those with pending sentences

      zionpercival.pay - 2012-08-13 07:05

In the olden days they, the mini, were made from steel plate
