Johannesburg - A woman was seriously injured in a bungee jumping accident at the Rant-en-Dal lodge in Krugersdorp on Saturday, paramedics said.
The woman leapt from an elevated point and at some stage during the free fall the bungee cord came loose or snapped, Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks said.
The woman plunged nearly 20 meters into a shallow stream below.
"In the fall she had borne the brunt of the impact with her lower limbs and sustained serious lower limb and spinal trauma," Wicks said.
She was treated and stabilised at the scene before she was carried by medics to a waiting ambulance.
The woman was taken to the Netcare Krugersdorp Private Hospital.
