Johannesburg - Two men were arrested in Evaton for allegedly abducting and raping a 27-year-old woman from the township, Sebokeng police said on Friday.
The woman was allegedly abducted early on Friday morning while waiting for a bus to go to work, said Inspector Kinnie Steyn.
"While waiting for a bus at 04:30, a red vehicle drove past... and then reversed to get back to where she was. Four men from the vehicle then got out and dragged her inside the vehicle," said Steyn.
Unbeknown to the men, the woman's mother had been keeping watch over her daughter as she usually did, from six houses away.
While the men drove off with her daughter, she called police and reported the incident, said Steyn.
A cellphone that the woman had dropped during her struggle with the men later led police to an ATM in Springs, after the men allegedly forced the woman to withdraw money from her account.
But on arrival at the ATM, the abductors had already left.
However, around 09:00, a patrol vehicle in Evaton spotted a vehicle fitting the description of the abductors' vehicle - a red Opel Corsa.
When police stopped the vehicle, they found the woman inside with one of her alleged abductors.
She then told police she had been raped. Steyn could not immediately indicate if the woman was gang raped.
"She was taken for trauma counselling and the 29-year-old man driver of the car was arrested," she said.
The second man, also aged 29, was arrested around 14:00. Police are still searching for two others.
