Frankfort - A woman who took her son to a Free State police station following a row with a neighbour, alleges she was raped by an official, police reported on Saturday.
Captain Motarafi Ntepe, spokesperson for the eastern Free State police, said the woman had gone with her son, a minor, to the Namahadi police station near Frankfort on Tuesday, following a complaint by a neighbour that her son had been fighting.
It would seem that when they got there, a sergeant took the son to one office and the mother to another. It is alleged the sergeant then raped the 49-year-old woman. She reported the matter to the police and was taken for a medical examination.
On Friday the sergeant appeared in the Phuthaditjhaba magistrate's court where he was denied bail.
He will appear in court again on Monday for a bail application.
