Woman robbed after leaving bank

2012-06-15 13:06

Mbombela - Two men have been arrested for robbing a woman of R60 000 in KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga, police said on Friday.

The two were allegedly part of a gang of four men who followed the woman after she withdrew money from a bank on Thursday, said Constable Kenny Mahlangu.

Travelling in two cars, they forced the 32-year-old woman's vehicle off the road, took her money at gunpoint and fled in the direction of Ekangala.

"We managed to spot one of the robbers' cars at Rethabiseng after receiving a tip-off," said Mahlangu.

"The vehicle was forced off the road after a short chase."

But the police did not find the money; it was in the car driven by the two other robbers, who got away.

Police were still searching for them, Mahlangu said.

It has to be a inside job, otherwise how would they have known this woman had such a large amount of money on her. Mind about finding the crooks, look inside the bank!!!

Question the teller serving her , check the tapes for any comms and undue delays in service.

As a woman - I would never make myself a hard target like this by putting such a large amount of cash in my bag and walking out of the bank. I might as well paint a large bullseye on my forehead and shout HERE I AM...

      Sharon - 2012-06-15 13:57

If no one tells them you have drawn a large amount of money, the crooks would not know. You could put it in your coat pocket and be safe. This is an inside job as are many more. There are just as many criminals that work in a bank as anywhere else!

This woman should also be charged for neglegency. Who is still carrying such a large amount these days? She has possibly tipped the robbers herself
