Johannesburg – A 42-year-old woman was raped, robbed and wounded in her shoulder by a man who broke into her home in Ga-Mashita Village, near Seshego, on Friday morning, Limpopo police said.
"The woman was asleep in her bedroom when the man allegedly broke the window and sneaked in around 04:00," said Warrant Officer Mothemane Malefo.
"The intruder held the victim up at gunpoint and threatened to shoot her dead if she screamed," he said.
"When she complied, he raped her, ransacked the house and took her cellphone as well as an undisclosed amount of cash."
He shot her, wounding her in the shoulder before running away.
The woman's three children heard the shot, went to investigate and found their mother in pain on the floor.
"She was rushed to Polokwane provincial hospital, where she is said to be in a serious but stable condition," said Malefo.
