Cape Town - An Atlantis woman is facing charges of fraud to the tune of R2m - which she allegedly used to buy items for a doll’s house.
The Cape Argus reported than Julie Ann de Vigno, 50, allegedly defrauded her employer, a Milnerton cleaning company, to buy, amongst other things, doilies, brass umbrella stands, gold candlesticks and other personal items.
The goods she bought filled 32 pages.
Since her arrest last year, De Vigno had sold her house and paid back about R1.5m to her former employer.
The matter only went to court after De Vigno’s brother - who had agreed to help her repay the rest of the money - became unable to do this.
De Vigno wanted to settle the matter out of court.
The matter was postponed until the end of August.
