Woman train driver killed at station

2012-06-04 14:21

Polokwane - A woman train driver was murdered at the Makhado railway station in Limpopo in the early hours of Monday, police said.

Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the 47-year-old woman was attacked while she and her assistant were walking home after completing their shift.

Her assistant managed to flee unharmed. When police arrived, the driver's body was discovered next to a stationary train.

Police think she may have been raped and strangled during the attack.

With sympathy to the victim, and best hopes the killer(s) is (are) caught and stripped of his/her (their) voting rights. However, where is Makhado?

SA nd its high crime rate is @ it again, raping nd killing someone its like nothing to some thugs. Law must take its course nd bring the culprits to justice, such acts needs no introduction in our society nd we need to ask those staying near da train station or nearby with info to help plice with the investigation.

At the expense of a life lost, its sad to say that this is the norm now in SA since the spear has said, according to his logic, that SA is a safe country! Hope they find the bastards and hang them!

  • Cody - 2012-06-04 14:55

  • frans.mosia - 2012-06-04 15:48

I just wonder if SAPS will show some interest to solve this case, if cops were serious about their work i dont think crime would be like this in SA, or perhaps should i blame the judges for not realizing the importance of incarcerating criminals.Maybe SAPS must deploy medical detectives from abroad to solve these kind of crimes cause it seems like they were forced to be law enforcers. In South Africa it seems like you must be a celebrity, famous or a politician in order for SAPS to help you.Apparently 50 people are killed in this country every day and what happens to those cases?RIP

  • Man - 2012-06-04 15:53

She contributed to society. The robbers take from society. Now the one that contributed is gone and the ones that take -and add nothing to society- is left. So now there is less going around to take. It sounds like a starving organism.

  • Abdul - 2012-06-04 16:31

A crying shame!!!Surely Transnet should ensure staff are safe after shifts etc. Sympathies to the driver's family!!!!

  • tricia.sutherland1 - 2012-06-04 16:52

in a place like Dubai there are 100s of 1000s poor immigrants who go there to work in construction, drive taxis and clean at hotels - they get to go home every 18 months if they lucky, they send most of their money home. BUT, the would never dare to rob, rape or murder. Do you know why? The sentence is death (or at the very least life in prison)!!!

  • glen.e.huysamer - 2012-06-04 17:26

The criminality and violent crime in this country is completely out of hand, and the more it goes on the more we hate the ANC-alliance government for their failure to install good governance. Now it is the ANC that is hated, and not blacks, before people try and put the two words into one package. There is a new growing majority, a majority that can't wait to see the end of the ANC Alliance.

  • William - 2012-06-04 17:39

It is no use to place a police officer on every street corner. Crime will not stop unless our justice system change. Police will arrest criminals and that they'll be out on the streets within days. Criminals knows our jails are overcrowded and that is why they don't fear police. Your president release criminals into society with a passport to attack law abiding citizens in some cases breadwinners. Reason? Overcrowding. If the death penalty would be reintroduced, the prisons won't be so full and we will be safe from those who rape and kill. Stop blaming the police, there are too many on our streets. Blame the damn justice system.

  • andrew.arnesen - 2012-06-04 18:26

This is f**king disgusting. The perpetrator knew that the cops would be on the way (due to the flight of the other person) and yet continued in their heinous mission... I really hope they catch this one....

  • Pieter Du Preez - 2012-06-04 19:20

Sad day, a loco driver is a well trained and qualified role, and to be killed like this is so sad, and so futile. RIP and condolences to her colleagues and family and friends.
