Johannesburg - A man was arrested in Alexandra on Wednesday
after two women were attacked and robbed of R6 000, Johannesburg metro police
said.
Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the women took a
taxi after withdrawing money from a bank.
"The taxi was followed by three suspects in a white
Toyota Corolla. When the women alighted, the suspects grabbed a handbag from
one of the women that contained the money," he said.
Metro police were alerted and arrested a man in his early
20s, Minnaar said.
"They recovered an illegal firearm. Police are looking
for the other two men, who managed to escape with the handbag. The number plate
of the car could not be taken down," he said.
The would appear in court soon and investigations continued,
said Minnaar.
