Worcester woman jailed for killing boy, 7

2012-04-13 09:06

Cape Town - A woman has been jailed for in effect 15 years by the Western Cape High Court for beating her 7-year-old nephew to death with a knobkerrie, it was reported on Friday.

The Cape Times reported that Nonkholiso Skotha, 51, entered into a plea bargain with the court on Thursday and was found guilty of killing Ntumeko Mboxi and assaulting his 11-year-old brother Zama.

Acting Judge Nalini Gangen sentenced her to 18 years, three of which were suspended for five years.

The boys were playing outside her home in Worcester, in the Western Cape, on June 29 2010 when she ordered them to do household chores.

When she returned from visiting neighbours only their older brother Mvuzo could be found. She sent him to fetch his younger brothers.

When Zama got home, she beat him with a stick for failing to listen to her.

"I assaulted [Ntumeko] by hitting him with a knobkerrie. After I assaulted [him], he never left my bedroom alive again," Skotha told the court.

think its time to start making a list of all these child killers and when they'll be released, so that people who actually want to see justice served can deal with them then

      Rvn - 2012-04-13 09:51

And then they can then be accused of murder and spend 15 years in prison and then so on and so on and the cycle continues? There should be one punishment for murder and that's the death penalty, not a measly 15 years of imprisonment and being fed by us tax payers.

What a brutal and savage attack on a young 7 year old. He was just playing with his friends and just being a little boy. But this woman decided to visit with friends instead of helping with the chores. Upon arrival at home,, seeing that he did not obey her. She decided to murder him. This bitch should be hung.

What's up with these judges, fisrtly the sentences are light and then they go further to suspend a few years from that, i cant stand it.

So that's all the innocent child's life is worth. The evil witch gets to live, have a meal three times a day and a bed to sleep at night at the taxpayer's expense. Nice

Looks like 'killing' children is lessor of a crime than fraud/corruption....

Just 15 years?!!!!! For what she did, it should be Life without parole!! Beating someone, in this case a child, to death must have taken all her strength. Savage!! These kids must have suffered years of abuse.

the south african justice system seriously needs reviewing. 15 years only? that's outrageously lenient, she should have gotten a life sentence.

  • Shirley - 2012-04-13 10:25

WTF???? She should get life without parole! I bet there was a lot of alcohol involved!

      Gemma-Leigh - 2012-04-13 10:31

It doesn't take alcohol to beat a person to death. Some people just don't know where to draw the line and picking up that stick was the first biggest mistake.
