Bloemfontein - A former farmworker of murdered Bainsvlei dairy farmer Flip Heyneke was arrested with two other men in connection with his murder, police said on Tuesday.
Inspector Harry Nagel said the three men were arrested in Phase 4, 6, and 10, informal settlements in Mangaung on Monday.
"Investigators recovered a cellphone, cellphone card and tools allegedly stolen from Heyneke's farm."
Heyneke, 50, was found tied up and hanged in a storeroom on his farm near Bloemfontein by his wife and daughters last Wednesday.
Police said Heyneke's wife discovered his body at about 21:00 on Wednesday when he didn't return home at 20:00 as usual.
He was found hanged, with his hands tied behind his back.
Heyneke lived in Fleurdal in Bloemfontein but went to his farm during the day to work.
Nagel said Heyneke's stolen bakkie, a Nissan 1400, was also found destroyed by fire near the Ferreira plot area during the investigation.
The men were expected to appear in Bloemfontein magistrate's court on Wednesday facing charges of murder and theft.
