Worshippers block road at FNB Stadium

2011-03-11 08:13

Johannesburg - Nasrec Road was blocked off between Show Road and Shaft 17 Road outside the FNB Stadium on Friday, Johannesburg Metro police said.

Spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said many worshippers for the Night Of Bliss Catholic prayer, which starts at 18:00 and finishes at 05:00 on Saturday, arrived overnight and slept outside the stadium.

"Motorists are advised to use the N1 as an alternative road."

Is this the event being run by "Pastor" Chris who claims to be able to heal people of cancer and HIV/Aids?

Yes. Only suckers willing to part with their money will go and listen to this charalatan.

This man travels to europe n do ths great meetings there also

      Nthlarhi - 2011-03-11 08:29

I totally agree with you. It looks like nowadays it's okay for the members of the society to break any rules and the police see nothing wrong with it. - 2011-03-11 09:11

  • rrr - 2011-03-11 09:05

Jesus Christ is the healer of every kind of deseases, so it does not matter whether it's AIDS or whatever name, nothing can beat the name above all the names. If Cancer is a name the fact that is under the name of Jesus it has to obey and leave. So the secret is in the name and not Pstor so and so.

      Darwinian - 2011-03-11 09:09

unfortunately no sleeping place for them, no matter how hard they were praying....

      Worldwise - 2011-03-11 09:54

If Jesus is such a healer, why do people get cancer in the first place? Why do we need some mortal representative to telepathically communicate the victims predicament to a supernatural all seeing, all knowing wizard who should be aware of the victims predicament and should heal the victim if He had any compassion at all. Why does He have to be asked? I'll bet that your Jesus can't heal amputees either.

      donnyt - 2011-03-11 12:11

@ Worldwide u so intelligent its pointless to argue with u. Lets say i'm wrong abt this Jesus and u r rite (meaning no heaven and/or hell) then i don't lose anything except the few rands I give as offering but if i'm rite n u wrong then it means that there's life after death (heaven for believers and hell for unbelievers).

Am I seeing a sons and friends of the Antichrist! Chris has never claimed of healing anybody. After all it's a person's choice to go there. Obviously, there is a reason for that. You guys are able to brag and enjoy sinning and think that life is so good because of these Christians you calling names who pray for you without ceasing. Wake up you fools!!!

Lets stop following Pastor this and that and rather follow Jesus. We cant fabricate miracles and have 'healing nights etc' God decides the time and place for everything. I wish people would just read the bible and stop following some big shot for healing.

      LuCypher - 2011-03-11 09:39

I have read the bible. It is the fairy tale folklore of a nomadic tribe who would have regarded a wheelbarrow as a miracle of rare device. Why should I find any relevance in such a book now? If god has such an important message, why doesn't he start a website?

      Bloodbane - 2011-03-11 09:43

@LuCypher... that gives me an idea ... I wonder if is taken?

      Bloodbane - 2011-03-11 09:45

it is taken, but leads to a site about hating the bank of america...

      MissG - 2011-03-11 09:50

@ Warren, you probably never needed prayers so desperately that you will follow God where ever he is and hope that this could just be the day that your loved one will wake up from a three year coma, whose children are still small and need their mom. Hope you never do for your own sake

      Bloodbane - 2011-03-11 10:06

@MissG - so you only pray when you need somehting? tell me doesnt god have an ultimate plan that we are not privy to... if thats the case why pray for people, a) they are going to a better place thats ends their suffering B) god has allready decided who are you to try change his mind. you do it because you are selfish and dont want to let that person go to a better place.... at least I as an athiest dont lie to myself and other why I want people to live and I dont need to pray to anything to keep them here. I know there is no plan I know that if I want someone to live I have to trust in the science that technology that we have to keep them alive.... technology that religioun is trying o stop and save more lives yet relgious people use nad rely on it just as much.

      MissG - 2011-03-11 11:44

@Warren I pray daily and the God that I serve is indescribable good to me. Satan is out to kill and destroy God's people and the prayer gathering is to put satan out of business, and I guarantee you that miracles is going to take place at that stadium tonight, watch this space, because the God I serve is mighty. Tell that to the scientist and advise them that they cannot be GOD and never will be

      nonamejv - 2011-03-13 10:43

Miss G, did loved one wake up from three years coma thanks to God or medical technology? Without medical attention would be death day, which felt in the coma. So I am not sure what is God influrence in this case.

So wish they would keep things simple - these massive rallies appear to foster a form of group hysteria. He advertises free bookings to get in - how does he pay for the stadium, which must be massive seeing that SAFA were prepared to allow U2 in before the Soccer game with Egypt, and they netted R90 million that way. Wish I could believe in my old-fashioned way that it is not all about money, and too much focus on one person - the one on the podium. Sad.

Its a proven fact that atheists know the bible far better than believers do. Thats because they have actually read the bible and don't cherry pick the bits that are convenient to them and ignore the inconvenient bits like Christians do. Many became atheists after reading such an absurd and improbable story with so many contradictions.

  • roboman1 - 2011-03-11 10:01

As a non believer, I am still amazed by the immature intolerance of so many of the people commenting here. Surely it is a minor inconvenience to re-route one day of the year for these people who have such strong belief. The other 360 days a year the road is yours again. Come people, show a little more tolerance of other peoples right to their individual beliefs, be they Moslems, Christians, Buddhists, whatever, learn to live and let live. Christainity isn't a religion. It is a Modus Vivendi. Way of life. The one and only way. I do not need to plead with you to become a convert. There are only 2 ways. one which leads to hell (suffering, sickness, poverty et al) and the other which leads to Heaven (Good health, riches, happiness, joy, love et al). Therefore the onus is solely on you to choose. Choose life today and avoid burning in the everlasting fire. Choose life today and avoid being in that place where you will gnash your teeth forever. Choose life today and avoid saying 'had I known'. The choice is yours.

      nonamejv - 2011-03-13 07:52

Good to know we have choice, and we choose to not believe in fairy tail. Bible is biggest hoax of the history. The Christ story is a rehash of a much older Horus myth. That events what is bible talking about happend in story of god Horus 1500 years before Christ.Do you need similarity of stories Jesus was conceived of a virgin Horus was conceived of a virgin. Jesus was the “only begotten son” of the god Yahweh. Horus was the “only begotten son” of the god Osiris. The mother of Jesus was Mary. Sometimes referred to as Maria The mother of Horus was Meri. The foster father of Jesus was Joseph. The foster father of Horus was Seph. The birth of Jesus was heralded by a star in the East The birth of Horus was heralded by the star Sirius (the morning star). Modern Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus on December 25. Ancient Egyptians celebrated the birth of Horus on the Winter Solstice (December 21/22). The birth of Jesus was announced by an angel. The birth of Horus was announced by an angel Jesus was visited by shepherds at his birth. Horus was visited by shepherds at his birth. When Jesus (and other Jews) come of age, they have a special ritual called a Bar Mitzvah. When Horus came of age, he had a special ritual where hsi eye was restored. Jesus was 12 at his coming-of-age ritual. Horus was 12 at his coming-of-age ritual. Jesus has no official recorded history between age 12 and 30He was carpenter. Horus has no official recorded history between age 12 and 30. Jesus was baptized in the river Jordan. Horus was baptized in the river Eridanus. Jesus was baptized at age 30. Horus was baptized at age 30. Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Horus was baptized by Anup the Baptizer. John was later beheaded. Anup was later beheaded. Jesus has 12 disciples, although their names are in dispute. Horus has 12 disciples. Jesus walked on water cast out demons healed the sick and restored sight to the blind Horus healed the sick, and restored sight to the blind. Jesus commanded the sea to be still by saying, “Peace, be still.” Horus “stilled the sea by his power.” Jesus raised Lazarus from the grave. Horus raised his dead father (Osiris) from the grave. Lazarus was raised, or at least lived, in Bethany Osiris was raised in the town of Anu. Jesus delivered a Sermon on the Mount. Horus delivered a Sermon on the Mount. Jesus was crucified. Horus was crucified. You can go on and on, is just coincidence so many similarities ?

  • Tony - 2011-03-13 06:14

To me it's interesting that if the bible's God existed, why does he rely solely on earthly "messengers" to spread his word instead of paying each individual a personal visit and explaining how it works, given the terrible fate that awaits those that don't believe. Just once is all I'm asking for. The answer is a rather obvious one ...

Did Horus rise from the dead and appear to many people after he was crucified? Thought not

      Des - 2011-03-18 09:46

the problem that people have in reading the Bible is that they try and read it like a book of which it is not, reading it like a book will bring you "logos" knowledge. when you hear what the "authors" were saying, they were being led by the Spirit og God on what to write as the scriptures tell us that it is Spirit inspired writing, therefore when reading the Bible you need to be Spirit led to get the "rhema" knowledge of what is in there, unfortunately for those who do not believe will not get this priveledge as you will need to be Spirit filled to have this discernment, to all else this will merely be a book. To those who don't believe, continue life without worrying about what we believe, i will not judge or condemn you as I am not the judge, however, we that believe will still continue to trust in God and love those around us unconditionally as that is what we were called to do, we cannot save you, we cannot perform miracles, we cannot create, but through the power of the Holy Spirit in us, He can and will do what He said He would do in HIs Word. Remember God loves the sinner but hates the sin. If at all you dispute the Word of God then rather take the morals in the Bible and apply it to your life, what have you got to loose?
