Cape Town - Police station commander Superintendent Sphiwo Hewana was found guilty at a disciplinary hearing in Cape Town on Tuesday on six charges of serious misconduct.
Superintendent André Traut said the four-day hearing would continue on Wednesday.
"Once the hearing has been finalised, management will issue a press statement with regard to Hewana's sanctions," he said.
Hewana, head of Goodwood police station, was suspended without pay last December.
He allegedly made conflicting statements relating to the arrest of African National Congress former chief whip and convicted fraudster Tony Yengeni for allegedly drunken driving in Goodwood in November last year.
Yengeni is to appear in court on March 19 in connection with the charge.
