Your family will cry, suicide note reads

2012-01-05 22:41

Johannesburg - A man shot dead his girlfriend and turned the gun on himself in Horizon View, Roodepoort, on Thursday, Gauteng police said.

Constable Vincent Mashiteng said the 29-year-old man and a woman in her 20s were seen arguing near the Westgate shopping centre on Thursday morning.

Witnesses said the man pulled out his firearm, shot the woman in the head and then shot himself.

He said police later found a suicide note in the man's trousers which read "I will kill you and myself and your family will cry."

Mashiteng said the note was dated October 15 2011.

    :(

      Sean - 2012-01-06 00:44

He was a coward !! But , just remember ,times are tough and people do not realise how much strain is on a man to provide !!! (for the record , I`ve been there and it wasn`t very nice)

      Mawethu Chivaz Rune - 2012-01-06 01:11

no signs were shown...so no livin evidence mst b left behind.

      afroduckk - 2012-01-06 01:15

@Braam - What makes you believe the couple were black as you put it??? This proves one thing , you are either a BRAINLESS RACIST or you are just STUPID !

      madsipho - 2012-01-06 07:55

@Piet, you make me wonder when you say whites will never speak like that, while I've met boers who speak English exactly like that.

      Silver - 2012-01-06 08:14

@madsipho: Ok maybe Boers might speak that way to keep it in context, make the statement understandable or to convey understanding within a cultural context but writing it a note like that to a white family? Never seen or heard of it. All I’m saying is that it was a reasonable deduction that’s all. Turns out that the couple was black so the deduction would have been sound.

      Willie - 2012-01-06 08:37

Some of this cops are not fit(mwntally, physically to be in the police force. The only reason they are there is because they are looking for a job. To be a member of the police force is not about a JOB ,it dedication, helping others, upholding the law.If you want a JOB try some where else

      Willie - 2012-01-06 08:40

@Piet-- what are you smoking ,please do not mix it with anything, maybe you need to drink mampoer

      allison.steedman - 2012-01-06 09:11

@Piet are you a suicide specialist? How many suicide notes have you seen in your life? Too many on this forum generalise about race based on their own limited understanding of the world! What difference does it make what race they are anyway? It is a tragedy and it happens to people of all races, in all countries on a daily basis. It has nothing to do with culture, religion, gender - depression is a disease, and until you have walked a mile in a depressive's shoes, who are you to judge?

      Silver - 2012-01-06 09:34

@smarterthanyou: The little discussion was based on a statement by Braam and Afroduckk whereby Braam deduced that the couple involved was black and Afroduckk jumped up shouting “racist racist!”. I was just pointing out based on the structure of the words and the way note was written that it would be reasonable to assume that the couple was black since that was the part Afroduckk had a problem with. Where you guys get the rest of your accusations and suicide specialist assumptions is beyond me but hey, if it makes you feel better…

  • meredith.r.pollock - 2012-01-05 23:51

    Coward

      Sean - 2012-01-06 00:45

Yeah , mate , you are right , read above :)

      Merven - 2012-01-06 07:06

Agree Meredith, if the guy got so many issues, why not just shoot himself, she will find a new boyfriend that will help.

      CdeSganja - 2012-01-06 07:10

I condemn the killing but I don't support your comment Pollock, we don't know the reason why he killed his gf and then him.

      CdeSganja - 2012-01-06 07:41

Hey Janine I like the way you call me Comrade, I appreciate that. Well Janine as I said the reason why he did so might be the valid one, there is is this statement that "I can't take it anymore".Let's wait for more facts on this then we will comment further.

      Chantelle - 2012-01-06 08:42

@cdesganja you condemn the killing, but dont agree with the coward comment? and we dont know the situation, or what she did to him etc etc? r u seriaaas? i have been in a relationship with a man, who threatened to kill me if i ever left him - he told me he would put a bullet in my head if he ever saw me with another man - he told me that as long as i am alive, i will be with no other man but him. I never ever did a single thing to stir up that emotion - other than the fact that he was mentally deranged. it got to the point to where i would only meet him in public places, such as shopping malls parking lots so that he wouldnt hurt me. its not an "i cant take it anymore" statement - its an "if i cant have you noone will" statement. please think before you write - it sounds like you are either justifying what he did, or it was the girls fault.

      Willie - 2012-01-06 09:24

@ CdeSganja --there is no justification get it into your head there is no justification

      Rohin - 2012-01-06 10:11

@Pulchritudinous-sorry to hear about your situation, but you can't assume that everyone has the same problems as you. If you say your partner was mentally deranged - then he's not a coward, he's just sick and needs help. Calling him a coward would imply that killing yourself is an easy decision to make - somehow I doubt it is.

      Chantelle - 2012-01-06 11:08

@ROHIN Im not saying this was the situation - but by what i read on the article, the signs were the same. thats all. i wasnt saying this was what happened - i just told my story and said that this sounded like the same circumstance.

  • Motho - 2012-01-06 00:04

Why did he kill himself only and left people alone?

  • Bob - 2012-01-06 00:29

Wow Sad, this is one whacky world!

  • Lala - 2012-01-06 00:32

Could'nt they just resolved their differences!!!

      Braam - 2012-01-06 00:46

they did, with a COP GUN not a PRIVATE GUN

      AyGeewils - 2012-01-06 05:19

Who knows what went on - she found someone else? A great majority of these sorts of murder/cuicides - the blokes do the shooting - so perhaps women can handle rejection better than men can - they cry and men can't?

      Chantelle - 2012-01-06 08:44

lala, these sorts of things have nothing to do with differences. in my experience, its about possession... it was never about him. it was the face that, if he couldnt have her noone would - therefore he thought he had no way out but to do what he did

  • nico.rousseau - 2012-01-06 02:19

This is just plain bad journalism. Have you nothing better to write on? I'm not even going to go into details on why as i've already embarrassed myself enough commenting on this.

  • AyGeewils - 2012-01-06 04:53

3rd Case in a few months - Can love be this distorted? What happens between meeting someone - falling in love and then shooting them in the head ... ?

      Elle-Black - 2012-01-06 08:48

@ AyGeeWils i ask myself the same thing everytime i hear about this sort of madness,I think it's when love turns to obsession,if he was having it so hard that he could'nt take it anymore then why not just shoot himself to end his misery? Maybe he felt if he cant have her nobody else can.

  • Durbanite88 - 2012-01-06 06:26

Selfish pig..may his soul rot in hell..RIP sista certainly u had been dating a bloodthirsty moron!

      CdeSganja - 2012-01-06 07:12

How did you come to that conclusion?Maybe the man has suffered enough from the girl and killing was the last option

      Dean Kenad - 2012-01-06 07:28

@cdesganga, That is a most stupid statement from you, killing is never an option no matter what happened between them. Your partner must watchout as you are capable of also killing them if the goings get tough. RETARD!!!!!!

      CdeSganja - 2012-01-06 07:36

Dean Kenad you got me wrong I won't kill my partner, what I was trying to say is that we don't know the reason why he killed the girl, who knows maybe the girl was abusive or she did something bad to the guy, and the guy was so weak that he couldn't take it anymore. By the way I' not a retard..

      Dean Kenad - 2012-01-06 07:52

You still saying the same thing but why didnt he just walk away? Why didnt he report to the authorities? Why didnt he talk to his and her family? Besides this didnt look like a weak man. Hes been threatening her since october. Come on killing a human is NEVER AN OPTION NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

  • Khulekani - 2012-01-06 07:13

go to hell ur morron....if you want 2 die die alone....busted

      Jackky - 2012-01-06 12:12

@cde sganja...listen,if u happen to be unrepentant i think ur parole have to be over turned.....how on earth do u publicly trow ur support on some one who just took a life for just no reason...i think ur partner really have to rethink the type of men she,s dealing with here or else her story might be the next one we,ll read here.

  • Beulah - 2012-01-06 07:21

@afroduckk they were black saw the photo

      madsipho - 2012-01-06 07:59

      Does the color matters Beulah?

      Betweenuandme - 2012-01-06 09:36

Curious Beulah, where did you see the photo? And I agree, racial group does not matter. We all have emotions and issues...

      Theresa - 2012-01-06 10:32

      @Betweenuandme...photo posted www.looklocal.co.za

  • Hlengi - 2012-01-06 07:24

he should have killed hiself not the lady, if he wants to die.

  • John - 2012-01-06 07:41

I think we had enough of Police members shooting and kiling family, close friends and turning weapon to themself. What happen with police nowadays?...is there a some kind of virus or we realy missing "real people" for this job? What SA Poilce have to say to the family of this 20 year old girl? "We shouldn't have him as policeman in the first place" or "ishh...probleeem"?

      Buck - 2012-01-06 10:05

The report doesnt say anything about the tosser being a cop, am i missing something from the report or you have more info than has been given?

  • Thoka - 2012-01-06 07:42

Argg mann, Why do we always wake up to sad news, I pray that lord have messy. I pictured 2012 as the best year for all of us, not this

      Andile Nokhetshe - 2012-01-06 08:13

      @Dean you such an IDIOT

      DuToitCoetzee - 2012-01-06 08:32

O Dean, please get a live and connect to reality. Your knowledge on human behavior is shocking. .....and stop hiding behind a phoney FB page. When one is true-full and correct you don't have to hide. Even if it is offending a race, but I presume you are or a racist coward or a stirrer.

      Moi - 2012-01-06 08:46

@Dean - what a racist, pointless comment to make

  • Beulah - 2012-01-06 08:13

    Color does not matter.

  • margaret.mead1 - 2012-01-06 08:43

This is a tragic event. Unfortunately this kind of thing is happening more and more frequently, and not only in South Africa. There are news reports from the UK and USA, and Australia in recent months. It is NO solution to whatever the problem is. This is out and out murder, no matter what the killer might see as a valid 'reason'. There is no excuse to take a life.Dear God I pray comfort for the families.

  • Rohin - 2012-01-06 10:05

this is yet another example of how life is so extremely difficult - there are so many people suffering whether financially, emotionally , physically or all of the above, and yet some people feel the need to turn this into a debate about the race of the victims. I mean really. Who the F*** are we to judge.

  • inwardk - 2012-01-06 10:25

This does not sound like a suicide note, more like a threatening note addressed to his girlfriend, I bet he showed it to her on Oct 15.

  • Beulah - 2012-01-06 10:32

@Betweenuandme go to Gunshot bodies next to westgate- General looklocal Roodepoort Northside .

      Betweenuandme - 2012-01-06 12:28

I did (thanks?) Sjoe, sjoe, sjoe!! Don't know what to say. Makes it very real. Condolences to all concerned, both families. If only things could have been resolved peacefully.

  • estec1 - 2012-01-06 11:18

"a man shot dead his girlfriend"... MAYBE IT SHOULD BE: a man shot his girlfriend dead and turned...

      Ally - 2012-01-06 12:39

Este1, look it up on a grammar site. The grammar is correct in this phrase.

  • Ally - 2012-01-06 12:36

Who in their right mind puts the date on a suicide note?
