Youth 'buries' women in shallow grave

2010-06-30 21:13
Durban - An 18-year-old man has appeared in the Durban Magistrate's Court for allegedly murdering two women and burying their bodies in a shallow grave, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday.

A student who was learning how to use a pay-loader found the bodies on a road, which had been covered with sand by a pay-loader.

Colonel Jay Naicker said Siphamandla Qumbisa appeared in court on Tuesday when the case was postponed until July 6. He remained in police custody.

"At this stage we are expecting further arrests in connection with the murder of these two women," he said.

"We are still appealing to members of the community that may have information on the identities of these victims to please contact detectives at Umbilo police," said Naicker.

He said the bodies were not badly decomposed which suggested that they had not been there for long.
