Johannesburg - Presidency Jacob Zuma has appointed Silus Zimu as a special advisor on energy, as South Africa deals with yet another day of load shedding on Sunday.

"An electrical engineer by qualifications and training, Mr Zimu joins the presidency from the private sector and brings extensive experience in both business and strategic management in energy," a statement said.

Zimu’s resumé includes time at Eskom as an engineer, and as a managing director of Johannesburg's City Power.
"We welcome Mr Zimu to the presidency and we are certain that his considerable experience and expertise in matters of energy will greatly contribute to the work being done to mitigate and resolve the energy challenge,” Director-General in the Presidency, Cassius Lubisi said.

Zimu's CV also includes the position of CEO of Suzlon Wind Energy's southern African operations.
