Zuma visits 'healthy' Nelson Mandela

2012-07-11 21:45

Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma visited former president Nelson Mandela at his home in Qunu, in the Eastern Cape, on Wednesday ahead of his 94th birthday.

"It was a delight to see him as always. I was particularly happy that I had an opportunity to give him good wishes for his upcoming birthday," Zuma said in a statement, which was issued by the presidency.

"I also informed him that, as usual, all South Africans are waiting for the 18th [of July], preparing to wish him a happy birthday in every possible way."

Zuma had lunch with Mandela and found him to be in good health, the presidency said.

Take our politicians: they're a bunch of yo-yos. The presidency is now a cross between a popularity contest and a high school debate, with an encyclopedia of cliches the first prize. ~Saul Bellow

i might not be a JZ fan but what does this article have to do with him running the country. the man was elected by the ANC an if you didnt like their choice you had the opportunity of voting 4 another party. even i disagree with the views of melusi but its surprising to see that majority of white ppl suddenly view Mr Mandela as a hero, keep in mind dat da same ppl viewed him as a terrorist.

I'm no politician but I know that pres Zuma is on a mission to erase Xhosa legacy and establish Zulu supremacy over south Africa. King goodwill zwelithini mandated him to restore Zulu supremacy while in the presidency. I love zuma as a person but as a leader he isn't capable at all. Look at the way he treats Mandela legacy and I wonder what he ll say when he's supposed to give mbeki lecture.

You know for sure that Zuma is on a mission to erase the Xhosa legacy and establish Zulu supremacy and this is King Zwelithini's mandate? Wow!!! Please give me some of that Transkei poison you're smoking or whatever it is that you're inhaling. It's people like you who perpetuate this sort of tribalistic drivel. Could you please enlighten us from where you pulled this "conspiracy theory" out of? Firstly, please count how many Ministers who are Xhosa that form part of Zuma's cabinet. Secondly the Eastern Cape is one of Zuma's biggest supporters in the country after KZN. Now, using logic does it make sense that Zuma would be on a mission to destroy the Xhosa legacy? Seriously?
