Durban – Five armed robbers targeted the Beverly jewellery store at the Pavilion in Durban on Wednesday night, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

"Five unknown men wearing balaclavas entered the jewellery shop at 18:00 and demanded money. No money was found so they took jewellery," Lieutenant Nqobile Gwala said.

Gwala said when the men left the store they fired shots at security guards, however no one was injured.  The men fled the scene in a white Volkswagen Touran.

Gwala said the suspects were still at large.
