Tzaneen - Police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt after a cash-in-transit robbery at a mall in Tzaneen on Friday morning.

Armed robbers targeted the cash-in-transit vehicle loading cash at a local mall and started to fire at the guards' vehicle.

"Two armed suspects emerged at Limpopo mall in Tzaneen and started to shoot randomly at the G4 security vehicle until they managed to rob undisclosed amount of money, and they sped off in a Mercedes-Benz and VW polo without registration," said Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe

Ngoepe said they had put out units of investigators to track down the suspects.

No one was injured in the incident.

It is the second armed robbery within a week and Ngoepe said they were upset by the spate of robberies.

Earlier this week, armed robbers also got away with undisclosed amount of cash near Tzaneen.

Ngoepe said they were working hard to catch the robbers.

"The provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has instructed crime intelligence and the specialised unit and detectives to come together and follow these people," said Ngoepe.
