Durban – A warrant of arrest has been issued for a Durban prosecutor who failed to appear in court on Tuesday, the National Prosecuting Authority said on Wednesday.

NPA spokesperson Natasha Ramkisoon-Kara said the matter was adjourned to December 22.

Gayle Antoinette Greyling, 35, was expected back in court on Tuesday.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane told News24 previously that Greyling had been charged with being in possession of a large quantity of drugs.

Sources close to the investigation said officers went to Greyling’s home on October 7 after a tip-off that a flat in Barbara Court was allegedly used as a storage place for drugs.

Inside they found a plate with some white powder, some clear paper normally used to sniff cocaine and a medical aid card. A purse containing a cigarette lighter and a packet of clear crystal meth was also found.

Greyling allegedly said the drugs belonged to her boyfriend, who at the time was in custody for another matter.

The number of a well-known drug dealer was found on a phone confiscated from the flat.
