Cape Town - Baby Leshay Billy, who disappeared from a clinic near Oudtshoorn, has been found, Western Cape police said on Friday.

A 22-year-old woman arrested in connection with the matter would appear in the Oudtshoorn Magistrate’s Court later on Friday, Captain Malcolm Pojie said.

The 2-month-old infant was found at a home in Bongolethu at 21:00 on Thursday, following a tip-off from residents. Leshay disappeared from the Toekomsrus Clinic near Oudtshoorn at 08:15 that day.

Her mother was at the clinic with her older child and handed her infant to a friend when it was her turn to be consulted. The friend was called into the consultation room and handed the baby to an unknown woman.

When they returned from seeing the doctor, the woman and baby were gone. Police launched a manhunt after the woman apparently left the health facility in a taxi.
