"Beach" restaurant in Pretoria ready for voting

2016-08-03 06:39

Pretoria - It was an early start for IEC officials at Kaya Beach restaurant voting station in Grootfontein near Garsfontein, Pretoria on Wednesday.

No voters had queued by 06:30, but Euan Nicholl, party agent for DA, said he felt upbeat about the day. Tshwane mayoral candidate Thoko Didiza was expected to cast her vote there.

"We believe everything will go well," Nicholl said.

The venue, a restaurant, differs from most in that it has a massive open area outside covered in beach sand with a strong holiday theme. Unfortunately the restaurant is only open for voting, so no cocktails as a reward for getting that famous pen mark on your thumb.

We have been taught that we need three meals a day in order to make it through the day and while most of us indulge in more than our fair share there is a large portion of South Africans who are living off barely enough to sustain them.
