Bloemfontein – The case against members of the Born To Kill gang arrested for allegedly killing two of their own members has been postponed, the Hawks said on Tuesday.

Five of the six, aged between 17 and 19, appeared in the Mangaung One Stop Child Justice Centre on Monday.

Their matter was held in camera because one of them is a minor, spokesperson Captain S’fiso Nyakane said.

"One of them was released at the weekend because nothing linked him to the murder," he said.

The case was postponed to August 29 for a formal bail application.

"The investigation is still ongoing and we expect to make more arrests in the case."

It is believed that they attacked the two fellow gang members, aged between 19 and 20, in Chris Hani Phase 3, Bloemfontein, because the two wanted to leave the gang.

"They stabbed and hacked them with pangas," Nyakane said.

One was allegedly hacked to death in his home in front of his parents. He was rushed to hospital, where he died.

The killers stole two cellphones, a DVD player and R200 in cash before running away.

The 17-year-old is being held in a place of safety because he is a minor.
