Bloemfontein – A 51-year-old woman was raped during a robbery at her home in Pellissier in Bloemfontein on Tuesday morning, Free State police said.

Police spokesperson Wendy Nkabi said the incident happened at 05:30 when three men approached the woman's 53-year-old husband while he was jogging and forced him to let them into his house. His wife was inside.

The attackers, armed with a gun, ransacked the house and took an undisclosed amount of money and the couple's cellphones.

While the man was held at gunpoint, one of the intruders went to the couple's bedroom and raped his wife. The three then fled the scene on foot.

No arrests have yet been made.
