Cape Town - The body of a missing Malmesbury police officer has been found after he disappeared on Christmas Eve.

Netwerk24 reported Warrant Officer Dion Dumas had delivered a Christmas present to his GP and never returned to his home, where his family was gathered to celebrate Christmas.

Investigating officer Constable Henry Durant informed the family of his death after the body was found about 12:00 on Tuesday.

Police located Dumas’ BMW and arrested the man who was driving it. They then found the policeman's body, Durant said.

Dumas was living with his mother, 87, and one of his five brothers in Malmesbury. He also has two sisters.
