Cape Town – Two brothers were arrested this week after police found half a million rands worth of Tik in a Pinelands home.

The arrest came after a joint operation by the City of Cape Town’s Metro Police Department and the South African Police Service on Tuesday.

Cape Town City Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, said in a statement 730 grams of Tik with an estimated street value of R500 000 was found during the raid. One suspect was arrested at the time.

His brother was arrested in Strand when police dog Ace sniffed out 10 grams of Tik and nearly R3 000 in cash at a house in Nomzamo.

In other drug-related cases, nine more suspects were arrested on various charges in Manenberg, Kraaifontein, Durbanville and Brackenfell on the same day.

Police also confiscated drugs worth R15 000 and seized R7 000 in cash.

“The festive season is a busy time for drug dealers, so these types of successes are all in a day’s work. I want to commend the officers for the good work and also the members of the public who make the effort to provide us with tip-offs. Public safety is everyone’s business and so I applaud each and every person who sticks out their neck in the interest of public safety,” Smith said.
