Cape Town – The case against the former leader of the Hard Livings gang Rashied Staggie and three other men was provisionally withdrawn in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Staggie, 60, Jayaraj Pillay, 56, his son Michaheel Mahendra Pillay, 20, and João de Gouveia, 45, have been charged with theft, Netwerk24 reported on Friday.

They were arrested in the parking lot of the Canal Walk mall in Cape Town on April 21 this year. Police responded to a tip-off and allegedly found the men in possession of 20 cases of Johnnie Walker Green Label whisky, which had allegedly been stolen in City Deep, Johannesburg, between April 10 and 20.

They were released on R5 000 bail each after their first court appearance on April 25.
