Johannesburg - Nearly 100 people lost their homes when a fire engulfed 18 shacks in Marlboro, Johannesburg, on Thursday, emergency management services said.

Nobody was injured or killed, spokesperson Nana Radebe said.

The fire was reported around 10:00. Soon after it was extinguished, residents began rebuilding, Radebe said.

The cause was still unclear.
